Clothing Allowance
Clothing Allowance recognises the costs of altering and cleaning clothing because of a service-related condition.
You may be able to get this if you:
- have an accepted service-related condition, and
- that condition causes wear, tear or soiling to your clothes.
This allowance is paid:
- every two weeks in NZ, and
- every four weeks outside of NZ.
This allowance is assessed when we accept a condition as service-related.
If you already have an accepted service-related condition — and would like to apply for this allowance — talk to your Case Manager.
Once you get a Clothing Allowance, you'll need to tell us if you:
- change your address
- change your bank
- change your relationship status — marriage, de facto, or civil union
- plan to go overseas
- plan to return to NZ to live
- move to a rest home or hospital, or
- have someone come to live with you or stay long-term.
