Korean Vision Camp 2020

Applications are now open for the Korean Vision Camp. The camp brings together Korean and New Zealand students to enhance the friendship that was first established between those who served in the Korean War.

About the camp

The Vision Camp will be held in Waikanae and Wellington from 3-7 February 2020. Transport to and from Wellington, accommodation, activities and meals will be provided by Veterans’ Affairs and the Republic of Korea’s Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs.

Activities include a pōwhiri at Orongomai Marae in Upper Hutt, a memorial service at Ōtaki Primary School, tours of Pukeahu National War Memorial Park, Te Papa and Weta Workshop, and an appreciation lunch at Parliament with the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to New Zealand and Korean War veterans.

Interested?

To be eligible to take part in the camp you need to be:

  • at least 18 years old at 3 February 2020
  • living in New Zealand
  • enrolled or currently studying at a tertiary level in New Zealand
  • able to attend the Camp from 3-7 February 2020.
New places on the camp have opened up. Applications now close at 5pm on Wednesday 22 January 2020.

How to apply

You'll need to tell us:

  • your full name
  • your date of birth
  • what participating in the Korean Vision Camp means to you (200 words or less).

You will also need to provide proof that you:

  • are currently enrolment at the tertiary level in New Zealand
  • due to start studying at the tertiary level in New Zealand
  • have recently completed study at a tertiary level in New Zealand.

If you are a descendant of a Korean War veteran, please also send:

  • the full name of the New Zealand Korean War veteran you are descended from
  • the service number of the New Zealand Korean War veteran (if known)
  • your relationship to New Zealand Korean War veteran (eg. grandchild/great-grandchild)

You do not need to be a descendant of a Korean War veteran.
