Calling all Second World War veterans

Did you, or someone you know, serve in the Second World War?

We are accepting expressions of interest from New Zealand Second World War veterans to attend the National Commemoration Marking the 75th Anniversary of End of the Second World War.

About the commemoration

The National Commemoration Marking the 75th Anniversary of End of the Second World War will be held in Wellington on 15 August. This commemoration is part of international commemorations marking the end of the war and is an opportunity for New Zealand to remember the service and sacrifice of those who served.

Interested?

To be eligible, you or the veteran you know must:

  • have served for New Zealand during the Second World War (worldwide, including New Zealand)
  • be living in New Zealand
  • have a support person who can travel with you
  • provide a medical certificate stating that you are fit to travel if you live outside Manawatū, Wairarapa, or Wellington.

Veterans’ Affairs will cover travel and accommodation costs for veterans to attend with a support person. Veterans are welcome to bring whānau and friends at their own cost.
